Intensified harassment by Iran's judiciary

Wednesday, July 19th, 2017

In a clear escalation of hostility towards the church, Iran has recently sentenced 12 Christians to 10 years or more in prison on charges related to their Christian faith and ministry.

In addition to the long sentences received by Pastor Victor, Kaviyan, Hadi and Amin, 10-year sentences have recently been handed down to eight other Christians in two separate cases. In the first case, three Christians from Azerbaijan and a fourth from Iran, Nasser Navard Goltape, were convicted by Judge Ahmadzadeh of engaging in missionary activities and 'acting against national security'. An appeal is pending.

In a second case, Pastor Yousef Nadarkhani, Mohammadreza Omidi, Yasser Mossayebzadeh and Saheb Fadaie have been sentenced to 10 years each for 'acting against national security'. The verdict was received on 6th July and it is believed they will lodge an appeal. The case was also heard by Ahmadzadeh.

Please pray for peace for all the men and their families, and for swift and successful appeals.

Please pray also for Judge Ahmadzadeh to be convicted by the Holy Spirit.
