From all over the UK hundreds of Iranians poured into Sheffield Cathedral on Saturday 18th July. They came from as far as Southampton and Brighton in the South, and Newcastle and Sunderland in the North. For some it was the first time they had ever worshipped in Persian. Most had never worshipped with so many other Iranians.

They came to celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ and to remember the recent martyrs of the Iranian Church. Rt Revd Mottahedeh, Revd Hovsepian-Mehr, Revd Tavassoli, and Dr Fatehi all preached on unique truths about Jesus. Then close friends and family members paid tribute to the seven Christians who had paid the ultimate price for their faith. For three of the martyrs, it is ten years since their death.
This was the largest gathering ever of Iranian Christians in the UK. The tributes to the martyrs spoke powerfully into the hearts of new Christians. One lady said “This meeting has taught me to be faithful to Christ whatever my circumstances.”
