KALAMEH TV

“I haven’t used drugs anymore… I believe Jesus is helping me…”

Hussein was a long time drug addict living in Tehran, Iran.  He had tried numerous times to become free, but always failed.  Then, in June this year, he happened to watch Elam’s new evangelistic TV series (Kalameh TV) which is being broadcast directly into Iran by satellite.  The first episode retold the testimony of another Iranian drug addict whose life was transformed when he found Christ. Hussein was profoundly impacted by the program and immediately called Elam and shared: “When I watched your program and learned I can become free in Jesus' name, I started to shake not because I needed drugs, but because of the name of Jesus."

The Elam team prayed with Hussein and stayed in touch with him.  He has now been free of drugs for over three weeks.  He recently shared with us, "From that day I haven’t used drugs anymore. My wife, my mother and I are very happy. When I feel I need drugs, I ask Jesus to help me. This program is so powerful. I believe Jesus is helping me. Please pray for us."

Within the first month we received over one hundred calls from Iranians following TV broadcasts and our Persian Christian website has seen a marked increase in visitors, indicating that TV viewers are going on line to learn more about Christianity.

Please pray for Hussein and other addicts in Iran who are now trusting Jesus with their lives.  Pray that their lives will be totally transformed and that many other Iranians will be impacted through their testimonies. Pray also for thousands of others who have watched and been touched by the television programs.  Pray also for the Elam team as they follow up with callers and also prepare new programs.

Millions of Iranians have the opportunity to tune in and watch Elam's Kalameh TV.  Based on the true life stories of people whose lives have been ruined by evils such as drugs, pornography, and marital hatred and restored by Christ, the programme aims to bring the Gospel ‘‘from the broken hearted, to the broken hearted.’

There is an estimated audience of 28 million and people are asked directly to receive Christ during the programme.

Jaleh’s tone betrayed her desperation. Her husband is a womanizer. ‘I watched your program and it was like a cold drink in the desert for my soul.’ After talking with an Elam team member, she came to the Lord over the phone.

Ali’s voice shook as he spoke: “I’ve been a drug addict for a long time and I’ve tried to become free so many times. When I watched your show and heard that even though I’m a Muslim, I can become free in Jesus’ name, I started to shake not because I needed drugs but because of the name of Jesus.” Ali accepted Christ and has been free of drugs for several weeks.

Jaleh* and Ali* are just two of over 200 Iranians who have called the Elam team after watching our new evangelistic TV program which began broadcasting at the end of June. The vast majority of calls are from Iranians who have been impacted by the testimonies on the program and want to learn more about the Christian faith. They ask questions like: What can I do to become a Christian? Am I allowed to become a Christian? Can you send me a Bible? Can I meet someone who will tell me about Christianity?

Amir, the host of the show, says: “Judging from the initial response, I believe these programs will have an increasing evangelistic impact for the broken hearted and rejected people in Iran. I am so thankful to the Lord that He is blessing these broadcasts. Please continue to pray for us.”

Please pray for responsive hearts, anointed broadcasting; and sensitive follow up. The programmes are being broadcast at peak viewing time in Iran – Thursday at 8.30 p.m. which is the start of their week-end. The programme can also be viewed on the internet.

Television – Calls Keep Coming In

Elam’s evangelistic Kalameh TV program continues to make an impact in Iran.  In response to the powerful testimonies people are calling to learn more or give their hearts to the Lord.  Praise God for Amir who called.  After praying with the team he repented, saying: “I believe Jesus is Lord but please pray for me, I’m afraid of people around me.”  Please pray for Amir and others like him who are coming to salvation.  Pray for their security and boldness for them to become witnesses.  Pray for the team as they speak and respond to those who are hungry for more.  Please also pray specifically for the protection of those whose testimonies have been shown on the TV program, as many of them have been under attack since they have been aired.
