The Curse Of Kidnapping In Kabul
Six weeks ago the cousin of a close friend of an Elam associate, was kidnapped from the streets of Kabul. This was not a one off incident, but followed a terrible trend of abductions. In the capital alone, over 300 children have been siezed in the last six months.
Many prayed. Miraculously two weeks later, news began to filter through that the little boy had escaped his captors in the city of Jalalabad, over 100 miles away from Kabul, and was on his way home for an emotional reunion with his family and friends.
“I Want To Pray”
Amazed by this miracle, in a recent email, a family friend expressed his astonishment that the Christian God had answered prayer for Muslims:
“I trust that your God made this happen...we did not go to God but we went to the police, you went to your God and He did a miracle. I believe that your God is a good God. Tell me...how to pray, I want to pray.”
Elam and Afghanistan
Afghanistan remains an extremely difficult country to work in, but Elam is increasing its involvement. Senior leaders have visited the country for strategic planning: the relief office continues to supervise a project to relieve the impact of drought: Elam associates have been channelled into the area, working with established relief agencies on a variety of projects and the college is seeking to train new students. Please pray that Elam will be able to release more people and resources towards this country where Dari, a form of Persian is widely spoken. Iranians understand the sufferings of their neighbour, the Afghan people, and can effectively minister to them.
