On March 31st in Lorestan province, Western Iran around the towns of Boroojerd and Duroud several earthquakes of 4.7 to 6.0 degrees occurred. Around 70 people have been killed and around 1000 people injured.
Shortly after news of the earthquake hitting Lorestan an Elam Ministries assessment team was sent to the region to see how we might help. Thankfully the death toll has been relatively low because previous tremors had alerted people to the danger of a big earthquake.
In the towns of Boroujerd and Duroud the damage has been just been focused on some of the houses in the down town area. The situation is more serious however in the rural areas where more than 300 villages have been affected.

Elam relief and development department has been at work in the area distributing hygiene kits and assessing the situation. At the moment the greatest need is tents, blankets, heaters and hygiene kits. Please pray for those affected by this earthquake and the aid workers who are delivering aid to this region. Anyone wishing to support this relief can send financial gifts to Elam ministries marking your gift for the Lorestan earthquake.
