Elam is supporting a prison ministry in Armenia, just north-west of Iran. Arthur Nikoghosyan, the evangelist, is a man of prayer, who visits the 12 prisons in the country.
In one prison three convicted murderers on death row refused all visitors. They agreed to see Arthur - 'during my talk, the Holy Spirit visited the bleak cell in a mighty way. The murderers cried out with deep regret, prayed the sinner's prayer and asked Jesus into their lives. Before their executuion they spoke of how God forgives sins and the eternal life they were about to enter.'
At Vanadzor prison Arthur was advised not to visit a room where people were sick with pneumonia. 'I insisted on going, and once in I was shocked to see a childhood friend. He was amazed to hear me talk about Jesus, as he knew my lifestyle before. I prayed for their healing and when I went again they said they had been healed. This news spread throughout the prison, and many others accepted Jesus.'
