Pakistan Earthquake Relief Continues

Although a fading memory for much of the world's media, Elam's Relief and Development department is still committed to helping the survivors of the devastating earthquake in northern Pakistan.

All three shipments of tents have now arrived in the disaster area and have been distributed to  1000 families by Shelter Now aid workers assisted by an Elam graduate who was re-deployed from inside the Iran region.  The tents have been a real blessing and life-saver for many; an email received from Len Stitt, SNI Pakistan Director says:

“ I just returned from a four-day field visit. The Iranian tents are great. People like them more than any other tent that is being distributed so far in the areas we are working. GREAT JOB! I wish we had been able to get more tents from Iran. Thanks again for all the help that Elam has provided to us. “

Through your generosity we have also managed to purchase consignments of thermal underware which are currently en-route and will provide much needed relief for families battling against freezing conditions when they are distributed next week.

If you would still like to help the aid effort please contact Elam's Relief and Devlopment department on 01483 427778.  Any additional funds will be used to support a project to establish a bakery in one of the relief camps whereby bread can be made locally, thus reducing the need to rely on foreign aid handouts.
