As the attention of the world’s media turned to Germany and the World Cup, the focus of this summer’s Elam College mission trip has been in reaching Iranians attending the tournament.
Elam students reached out to fans on their way to matches in Nuremberg and Frankfurt, where they were also working alongside a local church. Thousands of special evangelistic DVD’s and tracts that Elam helped produce were distributed as well as other literature and Scriptures. Most of the Persian speakers that they came in contact with were very open to the Gospel. In Nuremberg, one group came back to the Elam team saying how wonderful the DVD was and asked for more copies to give to other friends and relatives.
During their stay, the Elam team have connected with Iranians from around the world and managed to put individual believers in contact with thriving fellowships. The team also invited people to attend a special Iranian night of worship, testimonies and prayer. Later, three Iranians gave their lives to the Lord.
The students have also managed to work with their German host church in Frankfurt to try and reach out to the large local Turkish community, who tend to be more open to hearing the Gospel from Iranians.
