Christian couple sentenced to prison in Iran

Thursday, April 22nd, 2021

Homayoun Zhaveh and his wife Sara Ahmadi were ordered on 19 March 2021 to report to Evin Prison, Tehran, to begin a two and eight-year sentence respectively for their house church activity. Homayoun suffers from Parkinson’s disease and there is significant concern regarding how he will stand up to the rigors of prison life. In light of this, their lawyer has asked for a re-trial.

The couple was initially arrested in June 2019 while on vacation. Homayoun was released after one month, while Sara was held for 67 days, enduring psychological abuse and being placed in solitary confinement for 33 days.

Please join us in praying for these fellow believers as they face this harsh penalty for their faith.

Pray for Homayoun's health specifically and that a re-trial will be granted resulting in their sentences being lifted or significantly reduced.
