Prisoner released and charges dropped

Thursday, July 19th, 2018

Friends of Mohammadali Yassaghi (Estifan) praise the Lord for his release from Babol Prison in Mazandaran Province, North Iran.

Mohammadali (age 52), from a Muslim background, was arrested in Mazandaran Province on 10 April 2018 and charged with 'propaganda against the establishment.' It is common in Iran for vague political charges to be brought against those arrested for religious choices and activities of which the authorities disapprove.

On 25 June, Mohammadali was brought before a judge in the Revolutionary Court of Babol, who rejected the charges and ordered his release.

 Please pray that:

  • Mohammadali will quickly recover from any trauma resulting from his arrest and imprisonment;
  • the Lord will bless the judge in standing up for justice;
  • more judges in Iran will have the courage to affirm religious freedom and desist from condemning Christians and other religious minorities.
