Qom: Iran's holy heartland

Situated in central Iran just east of a large salt desert sits Qom. It is one of the most important cities in Iran from a religious perspective. Founded in the 9th century, it is the seat of Shiite scholarship in Iran and also a point of pilgrimage for Shiite Muslims. The people numbering nearly 800,000 are generally very devout Muslims.

The strategic city of Qom continues to produce the leaders of Iran’s government and was the place of study of the Ayatollahs Khomeini and Khamenei as well as a wealth of others. Pray that the Lord’s purposes would be accomplished in this city and that His people would be strengthened in every situation that they find themselves in.
