Suffering But Growing Church

Persecution is real, but it’s not the end of the story

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Well over 100 Iranian Christians from a Muslim background have been arrested inside Iran within the past several weeks. The intensification of persecution and arrests by the Islamic Republic of Iran is common in the weeks leading up to Christmas. When arrested, house church members are interrogated. When released, they are then warned not to carry on with any Christian activities. They are watched by the government, making it difficult and dangerous to gather together for worship or to engage in evangelistic activities. But we know that God is at work in the midst of persecution. From those who have suffered previously, we know that the courage of Christians and the love of Christ continues to draw many people to the Gospel. Read more about four Christians detained in Ahvaz, and a Christian couple arrested in Mashhad, in these news updates from Middle East Concern. We ask that you make time in the coming days and weeks to pray especially for these people, and others like them who are suffering. Please pray: That those who are arrested would know that this is not the end of their story
For courage and wisdom for those who are released and are being watched
For the safety of the many believers who will gather together to celebrate the birth of our Saviour this Christmas
