An Iranian family is exhausted by the social and economic oppression in Iran. They decide to leave and go illegally to Europe. All is going well until their smuggler suddenly abandons them whilst they are en route in Turkey: the family soon falls into the hands of the Turkish police and all seems lost. Held for days in a dismal asylum camp, the family is depressed and feeling hopeless. Then, just as the family is transferred to the nearest city to be deported, the mother makes an unusual promise. “Christ Jesus,” she begins, “if we are freed from the police, I promise to find you.” The mother is shocked when shortly after making her vow, she and her family are indeed released. In amazement they begin to wander the city streets. It is not long before they come across a group of Christians from a local Iranian church. The believers are in their usual spot, handing out New Testaments to Persian passers-by. Stopping to receive a New Testament, the family hears the Gospel of Jesus fully and faithfully explained to them. Their hearts are touched as they realise that God heard the mother’s cry and is drawing them to Himself. She had called out for freedom from the police. God delivered, and is now bringing them into the true freedom that comes from knowing Christ. In the Iran region, street evangelism by brave believers is having an impact for Christ day by day. Many, like this family, are hearing the good news and turning to Christ. But they are not only being reached: they are also being discipled. This family has joined the local church and, surrounded by fellow believers, is learning and growing in their new-found faith.
