We praise God that more than 100 Iranians and Afghans went through the waters of baptism recently. At a large service in a country near to Iran, these new believers - many of whom had come to faith as a result of recent Persian New Year outreach - made a public declaration of their faith. Among their number was Ali. Years ago, Ali had been incarcerated in an Iranian prison alongside Christian leader Farshid. During their imprisonment, Farshid had shared the Gospel but Ali was not interested. When Ali unexpectedly met Farshid again this year at a Persian New Year outreach event, his heart was softened by Farshid's testimony. Ali made a commitment to Jesus and joined the local church. Following his baptism, he's really excited to be growing in his faith as he continues the Safar discipleship journey with a friend. The Spirit of God was at work at this joy-filled baptism service: a handful of guests were so moved by what they saw and heard that they gave their hearts to Jesus right then. They too are being discipled as part of a local church.
