Arash: This book is full of life and love – it has power

Saturday, September 29, 2018

Arash and his wife Sepideh were on holiday in a country near Iran when they met an evangelist, Amir, giving out Persian New Testaments on the streets. Arash eagerly began asking Amir questions about the Bible. It soon became apparent that Arash was already familiar with many parts of the Scriptures. Sepideh was surprised and asked her husband, “How do you know all these verses?” Arash confessed that he been secretly reading a New Testament he had found in Iran. He began to tell his wife about the Bible, “This book is full of life and love - it has power.” Please pray for Arash and Sepideh as they now read the New Testament together. They are very open to the Gospel. Amir was part of a team that distributed around 500 New Testaments over 5 days. 4 in 10 people on the streets that week were Iranian. About half were visiting from Iran, the other half were refugees. 9 out of 10 people accepted a New Testament gladly, like Arash and Sepideh, and were willing to give time to talk with the evangelists. At this time there is an overwhelming sense among Persian-speakers in the Iran region that the future is uncertain. Many lack hope and are searching for meaning. Please pray for those who received a New Testament, that the Word of God would be a lamp for their feet and a light on their path. (Psalm 119:105) *Names altered for security reasons.
