Iran has been experiencing drought for the past six years, but water levels, particularly in major cities such as Tehran and Mashhad, have now become critically low. Please join us in praying for rain across Iran.

More than 50 days have passed since the start of Iran’s rainy season, and more than 20 provinces have not yet had a drop. Tehran has received only 1 millimeter of rain this year. Iran’s president, Pezeshkian, has proposed evacuating Tehran in the coming weeks if rain does not fall, which would displace some 10 million people.

Some commentators have framed the drought as divine judgment, while others point to long-standing mismanagement of water resources. All agree that the human toll, both economic and social, will be severe if rain does not fall.

Please pray:

• For rain to fall soon, and an end to the drought.

• For wisdom for leaders as they make critical decisions, and for the end of mismanagement of water and agriculture.

• For provision and protection for vulnerable families, many of whom cannot afford the recommended water pumps and storage containers, or the rising cost of bottled water.
